National Museum of Qatar

4K large-format, interactive projections and an imposing 40-m2 iWall between the SONO AV integrations for the new National Museum of Qatar

The National Museum of Qatar, baptized as the ‘desert rose’ of the Gulf, opens its doors to the public in Doha, the capital, with the intention of becoming an international museographic reference not only for its impressive architectural design but also for its commitment to apply the most advanced audiovisual technology.

This imposing infrastructure of 40,000 square meters, the work of the French architect Jean Nouvel, is composed of 539 white discs the rock formations on which it is inspired. It has more than 10,000 square meters of exhibition space, with 11 permanent galleries. In total, 1.5 kilometers of route where visitors, guided interactively, can learn about the history of the formation of the Qatar Peninsula, its heritage and its legacy.

Audiovisual engineering and sensory experience

Sono Tecnología Audiovisual has been one of the audiovisual partners in charge of carrying out this ambitious project. As an AV provider of the joint venture MEJV (Man Enterprise LLC y Empty SL, Join Venture), SONO has put, again, its know- how at the service of culture, design and creativity to equip the MNoQ with the highest technology in systems and audio- visual equipment.

The galleries have different audiovisual elements, including projections, screens and sound, perfectly integrated offering a highly immersive and sensorial experience to visitors.

High image quality, tactility and interactivity

SONO has participated in the design and integration of more than 100 audiovisual exhibition pieces located in ten of the eleven galleries of the museum.

The high audiovisual treatment goes through the inclusion of large format 4K projections, reaching, through the combination of equipment, resolutions that reach 60 million pixels per image.

It has also been equipped with sensitivity to more than 40 surfaces using TouchFoil technology, tactile transparent vinyl sheets.

Another of the star elements of the museum is the imposing 9×5 55′′monitor columns interactive video wall, with around 40 square meters, with which visitors can interact, discovering content, in an amalgam of images in constant mo- vement. It is the largest interactive iWall integrated into a museographic installation so far.

SONO has collaborated, on this occasion, with some of the main brands of the sector, among which: Digital Projetion, Dataton, MultiTaction, RMG, Panasonic, Me- yer, Epson, LG, Samsung, Extron, Leyard, Chief, Martin, Rosco o Cisco.
